These images are from the Shift catalog, an exhibition I was apart of the with the San Francisco Arts Commission. To say it was a lot of work would be an understatement, thankfully the catalog portion (on my end at least) was a piece of cake. Travis Somerville, David Huffman and myself had the task of finding a person we would like to be in conversation with about the themes in our work. I was stumped on who to ask, a few names came to mind but none of them worked with the subject matter I happen to work with. Then out of the blue the comedian W. Kamau Bell came barreling into my mind, he's a comic and at the time had a solo show called "The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Rascism in About an Hour", which was hilarious. You got two tickets for the price of one if you came with a person of a different race. Kamau's investigation into humor and race made him the perfect person for me to be in conversation with. I'm very thankful he accepted.
